Recipe for paint
|
Take low-fat curd
cheese, coloured
chalk and natural mineral borax. Stirring constantly, mix these
substances with plenty of water - that's casein paint. Casein paints
and limewash coatings are in general use in West Germany until the late
Sixties. In the eastern part of Germany the limewash coatings don't
disappear until after reunification. The reason: organic paints are not
stable for very long - they have to keep being stirred.

Parmetol: Good for
painting!
|
The first preservative
for paints and
lacquers is called Parmetol. It is launched by Schülke
& Mayr in 1960. Today the Parmetol range of products covers a
versatile and highly effective spectrum of effect, ranging from in-can
preservatives to products specially intended for the treatment of
substrates in cases of mould growth.
