From Lysol (1889) to Parmetol A33 (2000)

More than a hundred years ago - in 1889 to be exact - the traders Rudolf Schülke and Julius H. Mayr found a specialist company for disinfectants in Hamburg. Even in the year of its foundation the entrepreneurs are producing the first universal branded disinfectant - Lysol. A few years later, with Grotan, Schülke & Mayr starts to set standards in the field of disinfectants. Grotan is the first chemical-technical preservative for glues and coolants. Over the course of time a large number of highly effective and customer-orientated product innovations have been developed in our company - here are a few current examples:

1992 Euxyl K 702

Euxyl K 702 is the first liquid preservative based on organic acids. Compared with the single acids used previously, Euxyl K 702 convinces as a result of its broader spectrum of effect.

2000 Euxyl® K 700

Development of a further liquid and extremely effective preservative for cosmetic products based on organic acids. Here too, the spectrum of effect is striking when compared with the previously used single acids. For the current trend towards transparent rinse-off formulations Euxyl® K 700 is a particularly interesting alternative for preservation, because Euxyl® K 700 is stabilised against discolouration.

1990 Parmetol H 92

The first patented in-can preservative based on organic peroxides. Parmetol H 92 has today become established as a reliable preservative especially in household products.

1999 Parmetol DF 27

Parmetol DF 27 is a highly effective film-coating preservative that is eminently suitable for the algicidal and fungicidal treatment of water-based products such as paints, plasters, knifing fillers, sealants, glues and adhesives. Parmetol DF 27 is optimally designed for use in exterior coatings. For the product not only displays good resistance to leaching out, it also guarantees reliable and lasting protection, even under extreme climatic conditions.

1993 Sensiva SC 50

With Sensiva SC 50 Schülke & Mayr offers a deodorant ingredient that is both gentle and highly effective. Sensiva SC 50 is a glycerol ether of high purity. As a result of its chemical structure the product has skin-friendly properties similar to those of glycerol. It forms a film on the skin and gives it a pleasant feeling.

2000 Parmetol A33

Formaldehyde donors are very widely used in preservation on account of their effectiveness, but they have their own unpleasant formaldehyde-like smell. Parmetol A33 is a newly developed and very effective in-can preservative, which thanks to a special urea-based component is almost neutral in smell but nevertheless exhibits the effectiveness of the usual formaldehyde donors.

1998 Grotan F 10

Introduction of a patented and very effective combination of fungicidal substances for coolants.

1976 GrotaMar 71

As a response to the increasing problem of microbial contamination of diesel fuels in shipping, Schülke & Mayr has developed GrotaMar 71.

1960 Grotan BK

Introduction of the first patented preservative for coolants. Starting out from Grotan BK, the substance hexahydrotriazine began its triumphal march into the world. HHT is today one of the most widely used substances in the world for the preservation of coolants.
