Innovation from the S&M laboratories: Euxyl PE 9010
Schülke & Mayr GmbH in Norderstedt near Hamburg, a leading international producer of chemical/technical preservatives, has unveiled an extension to its successful Euxyl® range. Starting in October 2004, the company is offering the international cosmetics industry Euxyl® PE 9010, an innovative new preservative from the S&M laboratories.
Euxyl® PE 9010 is a preservative for cosmetic products based on the membrane-active agent phenoxyethanol. In combination with the innovative additive ethylhexylglycerin, which influences the interfacial tension of the cell membranes of microorganisms, it has been possible to substantially boost efficacy. By using this multifunctional preservative booster, phenoxyethanol can unleash its antimicrobial effect against bacteria, yeast and mould fungi even more efficiently. The biocidal effect can be seen after only a few hours.
Euxyl® PE 9010 meets all the requirements made of an optimum preservative for cosmetics. Global approvals have been issued for the ingredients used in Euxyl® PE 9010. The sensitization potential is classified as low. Euxyl® PE 9010 is stable to hydrolysis, temperature and pH and suitable for use in nearly all leave-on formulas. With its high solubility in water, it is also ideal for use in clear gels. Euxyl® PE 9010 is supplied in 10 kg canisters, 200 kg drums and 1000 kg containers. The product is being launched by way of individual customer contact by S&M’s external sales force, supported by detailed brochures.
